Slonky, LLC was formed by Jason Lutjen and Jason Murtha on April 10th of 2007. After over 4 years of working together on various personal projects, the two young entrepreneurs decided it was time to get out of the 9 to 5 routine, move to the same region and start a business in an industry they both knew well: Web Solutions.
Slonky was formed under the premise that running a business doesn't have to be 'work'. One can usually tell just by the company name that this isn't your ordinary Design and Development firm; the guys at Slonky are laid back and personable, yet professional in their approach and solutions.

Jason Lutjen is a success story in the making. His determination, skill and his embodiment of the 'work smarter, not harder' mantra combine to power Slonky LLC.
While most children were playing kickball, Jason was busy creating his first web empire. By the time he was a sophomore in college, Jason had created and run two extremely successful sites, CTNews3D and RIFTrock. Jason graduated from Radford University with a degree in Marketing in 2006. An interesting tidbit about Radford: Nearly 93 percent of Radford graduates obtain employment or enroll in graduate school within 3 to 8 months of graduation from the university. Jason had other plans. Within eight months of his graduation, Jason had named, gained funding for, and ultimately created Slonky, LLC.
Lightning storms, floods, swarms of flies and nearly freezing to death have not stopped the resolve of this Slonky.
This is where we are now, and the story is about to get really interesting.

The bio of Jason Murtha as written by Jason Lutjen:

He’s a thinker. That is pretty much the best phrase I could come up with to describe my business partner Jason Murtha. Without his experience and expertise in the fields of Web and Mobile Development, Slonky wouldn’t have ever been created.
It isn’t to say he’s not a looker, too. He looks strangely similar to Chuck from the television show on NBC (“Chuck”); his mannerisms differ greatly however, and Murtha isn’t a spy. I hope.
Jason Murtha graduated from Eastern Carolina University with his B.S. in Computer Science. After some time in San Diego, overseas and Nashville, Tennessee, Murtha and I sat down to discuss the possibility of him joining me in the D.C. area to start a business. After some convincing, Jason and his wife, Amanda (Hi, Amanda!), packed their things and trekked up to northern Virginia.
I can’t stress it enough: without Jason’s knowledge of the Web Solutions industry, development, and business, Slonky wouldn’t exist. For that, I dedicate this haiku to Jason Murtha:
Silent but deadly
Jason Murtha knows his stuff
Rock that back-end, dude
Jason Murtha is married to Amanda Murtha. Together they have one dog, Peanut.

Special "Thanks!" are in order for the following people (and things). Without their help, inspiration and/or other contributions, Slonky wouldn't exist.
Brian Kerchner of Cactus Graphics for contributing to the Slonky fund, our parents and family members, our significant others, our awesome clients, Craigslist for helping us start off on the right foot, the ton of web sites we visit daily that help us keep sane, beer, energy drinks, pizza, Myspace for helping the Founders meet long ago, mousepads, Sony for creating awesome Vaio laptops, pirates (yarr!), Apple for keeping the front page of Digg constantly updated (Ron Paul, silly pictures, and bad videos for that matter, too), Adobe for creating awesome software, "little people," Panera for having awesome bagels and coffee, good music... and, finally, Hot Pockets for making us weak in the knees. |
